Oborevwori Says Delta Workers Cannot Take 13th-Month Salary and Vote Against APC

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has declared that workers benefiting from his administration’s 13th-month salary package should support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

Oborevwori made the remarks on Thursday in Asaba during the inauguration of the Delta State APC Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections. He also unveiled “MORE Plus” as the theme of his re-election campaign.

The governor, who chairs the campaign council, argued that the additional salary had strengthened workers’ interest in continuing his administration. He described the benefit as a significant part of his government’s workers’ welfare policy.

“Today civil servants have no choice not to vote us. They have no choice. 13th month (salary) is huge, times two. Some people don’t understand what 13th month,” Oborevwori said.

The governor explained that eligible appointees and public servants would receive the additional payment in December. His remarks linked the welfare package to the party’s campaign ahead of the next general election.

The campaign comes amid preparations by political parties across the country. Related coverage includes Sowore’s pledge on wages and electricity if elected and the report on political parties signing a peace accord ahead of Enugu’s local government elections.

Oborevwori urged campaign council members to take President Bola Tinubu’s message to communities across Delta State. He asked them to mobilise voters at ward and polling-unit levels.

He described membership of the council as a call to service. Also, he urged members to demonstrate unity, discipline and commitment as they work towards victory for Tinubu, himself and other APC candidates.

The governor said the party must communicate its achievements effectively to voters. He highlighted infrastructure, education, healthcare, workers’ welfare, youth empowerment and security under his M.O.R.E Agenda.

“Our achievements must speak for us, but we must also be prepared to explain them convincingly,” he said.

His remarks placed grassroots engagement at the centre of the campaign strategy. Similar mobilisation efforts featured in the report on APC’s victory in Enugu’s local government election and the campaign tour through Nkanu East communities.

Onyeme Urges Party Members to Promote Tinubu’s Achievements

Delta State Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme praised Oborevwori for aligning the state with the Federal Government. He urged APC members to build on what he described as the gains of the political alignment.

Onyeme called on party faithful to publicise Tinubu’s record in local government autonomy, education funding, grassroots development and security. He also highlighted electricity and road infrastructure.

His remarks reinforced the campaign council’s responsibility to communicate government policies to voters. The party leadership hopes to use these issues to strengthen support ahead of the elections.

Keyamo Defends Tinubu’s Economic Reforms

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo defended Tinubu’s economic reforms during the event. He argued that difficult decisions were necessary to address the country’s economic challenges.

Keyamo acknowledged that the reforms had caused temporary hardship. However, he said they were intended to tackle underlying problems, including the unsustainable cost of fuel subsidies.

His comments formed part of the APC’s wider effort to explain the Federal Government’s policies ahead of 2027. The party is expected to make economic management a major part of its campaign message.

Delta APC Leaders Express Confidence Ahead of 2027

Delta APC Chairman Solomon Arenyeka said the inauguration demonstrated the party’s readiness to contest elections at all levels in 2027. He expressed confidence in the party’s preparations.

Former governor and senator Ifeanyi Okowa, speaking for Delta North, said expectations were high following Delta’s mass defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC in April 2025.

Okowa urged the council to demonstrate its strength through electoral performance. He also stressed the importance of reaching voters directly rather than depending only on campaign rallies.

For Delta Central, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor welcomed the APC’s position as the ruling party in the state. He pledged support for the re-election of Tinubu and Oborevwori.

Former Secretary to the State Government Ovuozourie Macaulay, who spoke for Delta South, also expressed confidence in the administration’s achievements. He assured the gathering that the district would work towards delivering substantial votes for the party.

These commitments reflect the APC’s efforts to coordinate support across Delta’s senatorial districts. Similar party activities have featured in the report on stakeholders backing APC candidates in Ohuani Idodo and Oruku and the report on wards declaring support for Mbah and Ogbuekwe.

James Manager Pledges Coordinated Campaign Effort

Senator James Manager, Director-General of the Delta APC Campaign Council, pledged to work with party leaders and members to secure victory in 2027.

Manager described the assignment as demanding and said it would require collective effort and sustained grassroots mobilisation. He emphasised the need for coordination among party structures throughout the state.

The campaign council is expected to lead efforts to promote the APC’s candidates and communicate their programmes to voters. Its work will include mobilising support for Tinubu, Oborevwori and other party candidates.

The inauguration marks another step in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections. The party will need to translate its campaign promises and welfare messaging into voter support across Delta State.
