The Mike Aninwogbu Support Group for Mmiri Oma 2026 has reaffirmed its support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate in Nkanu East Local Government Area, Engr. Mike Chikosolu Ogbuekwe. The group pledged to mobilise votes for him ahead of the September 26, 2026 local government election.
Also, the group announced its position as the Mmiri Oma Campaign Organisation concluded its ward-to-ward mobilisation tour in Nkerefi, Ogbuekwe’s home community, on Monday. It said its members would continue grassroots engagement across Nkanu East in the lead-up to the poll.
The campaign comes amid other political activities in Enugu State ahead of the local government election. Related developments include APC stakeholders’ support for Ogbuekwe in Ohuani Idodo and Oruku and Nara residents’ participation in the party’s mobilisation efforts.
Aninwogbu Group Has Participated in Campaign From the Beginning
The group’s convener, Hon. Mike Aninwogbu, has participated in the Mmiri Oma Campaign Organisation’s ward-to-ward campaign activities from the outset. According to the group, he joined the campaign train as it visited communities and wards across Nkanu East.
The group said its continued participation reflects its confidence in Ogbuekwe’s professional background, experience and understanding of the development needs of the local government area. It added that Aninwogbu’s involvement began even before the main ward-to-ward campaign tour.
The campaign forms part of wider political mobilisation activities taking place in the state. Other reports have covered APC campaign activities in Enugu East and support for Governor Peter Mbah’s development agenda.
Group Takes Part in Market Sensitisation
Before the main ward tour began, Aninwogbu joined individuals and support groups in market sensitisation exercises across Nkanu East, the group said.
The exercises were intended to communicate the achievements of Governor Peter Mbah’s administration to residents at the grassroots. They also sought to promote Ogbuekwe and other APC candidates ahead of the September 26 election.
The group said it continued its mobilisation activities as the campaign train moved through the local government’s wards. Its efforts come alongside other community-focused initiatives in Enugu, including the Community and Social Development Agency’s sensitisation exercise in six communities.
Aninwogbu Highlights Ogbuekwe’s Agricultural Experience
Speaking during the campaign engagement in Nkerefi, Aninwogbu referred to Ogbuekwe’s professional and public-sector background. This includes his engineering experience and work in the oil and gas sector.
Aninwogbu also mentioned Ogbuekwe’s previous role as Special Adviser to Governor Peter Mbah on Agriculture. He said that experience and Ogbuekwe’s involvement in the agricultural sector were relevant to the development needs of Nkanu East.
The support group stated that Nkanu East has considerable agricultural and economic potential. It expressed the view that the area’s resources could be better harnessed to create opportunities for residents and strengthen the local economy.
Agriculture and economic development have also featured in other state-level initiatives. These include the South East Development Commission’s planned agro-mechanisation project in Enugu and discussions around NACCIMA’s response to Enugu’s economic ambitions.
The group said it believed Ogbuekwe’s background in agriculture and public service could be useful in addressing some of the local government’s development challenges. These comments represent the support group’s stated position on the candidate.
Members to Mobilise Across Nkerefi Polling Units
The Aninwogbu Support Group said its members are located across polling units and voting points in Nkerefi Wards and other parts of Nkanu East.
It pledged that members would vote for Ogbuekwe and conduct grassroots canvassing to seek additional support for the APC candidate. The group added that its mobilisation would continue across communities and voting points before election day.
The planned activities are taking place as preparations continue for the September 26 local government poll. Mmiri Oma Campaign Concludes Ward-to-Ward Tour
The group’s pledge followed the conclusion of the Mmiri Oma Campaign Organisation’s ward-to-ward mobilisation tour in Nkerefi, Ogbuekwe’s home community.
The final engagement attracted political leaders, government appointees, community stakeholders, women, youths and support groups, according to the campaign account. The tour had visited several communities across Nkanu East, where supporters canvassed votes for Ogbuekwe and other APC candidates.
Campaign activities across Enugu have also included outreach in other communities, such as the mobilisation involving Ugbakwa wards and the campaign engagement in Ihuokpara and Isienu-Akpawfu.
As the election approaches, the Aninwogbu Support Group says it intends to sustain its grassroots mobilisation across Nkanu East. It has pledged to work towards securing votes for Ogbuekwe and the APC, while the September 26 election will determine the outcome of the chairmanship contest.
