Ugbakwa Ward 1 and Ward 2 in Nkanu East Local Government Area have declared support for Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its chairmanship candidate, Engr. Mike Chikosolu Ogbuekwe.
The declarations came during the ongoing ward-to-ward mobilisation of the Mmiri Oma Campaign Organisation ahead of the September 26, 2026 local government election.
The campaign engagement attracted political leaders, government appointees, community stakeholders, women, youths and party supporters.
Several speakers used the meetings to highlight government projects and appointments involving people from Ugbakwa. They also called for support for Ogbuekwe and other APC candidates.
The Ugbakwa mobilisation forms part of a wider campaign tour across Nkanu East. Similar engagements have recently taken place in communities including Nara, Mburumbu and Nomeh.
Nkanu East Leaders Rally Behind Ogbuekwe
Speaking as a son of Ugbakwa Ward 1, the Nkanu East council chairman and Enugu State ALGON chairman assured Ogbuekwe of the ward’s support.
He expressed gratitude to God and the people of Nkanu East for giving him the opportunity to serve.
The council chairman also pledged to complete the road project currently under construction in his community.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss projects and government programmes affecting the area.

APC Stakeholders Highlight Mbah Administration’s Projects
APC State Treasurer, Elder Patrick Okoh, described Ugbakwa as one of the communities that had benefited from the administration.
Okoh said more than 16 stakeholders from the community currently hold government positions.
He also pointed to employment opportunities involving people from the area. According to him, these developments had strengthened Ugbakwa’s connection with the APC administration.
Okoh pledged that Ugbakwa Ward 1 would support Ogbuekwe’s campaign.
Hon. Charles Edeh, Special Assistant to Governor Mbah on Youth Mobilisation, also highlighted infrastructure projects in the community.
Edeh attributed asphalt roads and bridges in the area to the APC-led government. He said the projects had strengthened support for the party among young people.
He further noted that two Special Assistants to the governor on youth affairs come from the community.
Hon. Prisca Okeke, Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth and Students Affairs, also expressed support for the APC.
She called for more empowerment programmes for young people across Nkanu East. According to her, such initiatives would complement existing government efforts.

Youth Leader Urges Young People to Participate
Hon. Ebuka Okoh, Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in Enugu State, described youths as an important part of Nkanu East’s political structure.
He urged young people in Ugbakwa to remain active in the political process.
Okoh encouraged them to pay attention to the programmes and promises of candidates during the election period.
He also said youth participation should continue beyond election day.
According to him, young people should remain involved in governance and community development after elections.

Ugbakwa Ward Chairman Expresses Confidence
The APC Ward Chairman, Okeke Anayo Victor, expressed confidence in the party’s structure in Ugbakwa.
He said the ward had several people occupying government positions and contributing to public administration.
Anayo argued that their presence had strengthened the party’s connection with residents.
Former Nkanu East Deputy Chairman, Hon. Ben Joe, also spoke in support of the APC.
Joe pointed to the number of government appointees from Ugbakwa as evidence of the community’s relationship with the administration.

At Ugbakwa Ward 2, former Nkanu East Deputy Chairman, Hon. Angela Ngene, expressed support for Ogbuekwe.
Ngene said she expected the APC candidate to perform well in the September 26 election.
She extended the support to APC candidates contesting the chairmanship and councillorship positions.
Ngene also spoke about the political relationship between Nkanu East and neighbouring communities.
She argued that Nkanu East had supported its political allies over the years. She also expressed confidence that development projects would influence political discussions in the area.
Her comments formed part of the broader campaign message linking the September 26 council poll with the performance of the state administration.
Community Leaders Praise Governor Mbah
Ozor Arch. Obiechina Agu, speaking for men and title holders in the community, pledged support for Ogbuekwe and the APC.
Former Nkanu East Deputy Chairman, Hon. Uche Ogbu, also said residents were prepared for the election.
Ogbu said residents had their Permanent Voter Cards and were ready to participate in the poll.

Hon. Ozoemenam Edeh, Administrator of Asu Nkanu, similarly praised the administration’s development projects.
Edeh mentioned ongoing road construction, a Smart School and a Type-2 hospital project in the community.

The APC Women Leader in Nkanu East, Hon. Mrs Chinwe Mbah, assured the campaign team of women’s support.
She said women across the area were prepared to support Ogbuekwe and other APC candidates.
Mbah also urged the incoming council chairman to prioritise women’s empowerment.
She argued that women could contribute significantly to governance and community development when given opportunities to build their capacities.
The call places women empowerment among the issues raised during the campaign’s ward-level engagements.

He urged party members and supporters to remain united as the election draws closer.
The Ugbakwa engagement is one of several ward-level meetings organised by the campaign.
