Enugu West shuts down for Tinubu, Mbah endorsement, donates N100m
…Nnamani warns against ‘one-term’ campaign promises
…Markets, businesses closed as thousands throng venue of rally

Economic and social activities were on Saturday brought to a standstill across parts of Enugu West Senatorial District as thousands of residents converged on the Awgu Local Government Secretariat field for Tinubu and Mbah Endorsement for a second term in office, donates N100m.
The rally, described by stakeholders as a “mega endorsement gathering,” drew participants from the five local government areas that make up the senatorial zone:Awgu, Aninri, Ezeagu, Udi and Oji River-effectively grounding commercial activities, as markets, offices and transport operations were temporarily shut down to enable mass participation.

In a symbolic gesture underscoring their commitment, leaders and stakeholders of the zone presented a cheque of N100m to Mbah to facilitate the purchase of his nomination form ahead of the 2027 governorship election, while also pledging to mobilise votes massively for both him and Tinubu.
Endorsement driven by performance, not politics

Speaking during the rally, the Senator representing Enugu West, Osita Ngwu, said the endorsement was a product of collective conviction rooted in tangible results rather than partisan considerations.
Ngwu highlighted key achievements of the Mbah administration, including the establishment of a cutting-edge Command and Control Centre aimed at improving security surveillance and response, as well as the rollout of Smart Schools in all political wards of the state.
He further cited the construction and upgrade of Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres, describing them as a major leap in improving access to quality healthcare at the grassroots.
On infrastructure, the lawmaker pointed to significant road rehabilitation and construction projects, particularly the once-dreaded Aguobu Owa axis, which he said had been transformed into a motorable and efficient corridor.
“Before now, travelling through that route felt like a journey of no return. Today, it takes only a few minutes. These are not campaign promises; they are measurable results. This is what happens when leadership is bold, decisive and focused on outcomes,” Ngwu said.
He also commended Tinubu’s administration at the federal level, noting that Enugu State and the wider South-East region were already benefiting from key policies and reforms.
“We have seen the transformational effects of Mr President’s leadership. Our governor was proactive in connecting Enugu to the centre, and today we are reaping the benefits,” he added.

Ex-military leaders align with people’s decisions

Also lending their voices, former Chief of Naval Staff and Military Governor of old Anambra State, Allison Madueke, and a former Military Administrator of Gombe State, Joseph Orji, expressed full alignment with the position of the people.
They described the testimonials presented at the rally as reflective of genuine satisfaction with governance and urged both Tinubu and Mbah to consolidate on the gains recorded so far.
“The testimonies are clear and verifiable. The people have spoken in one voice. What we expect now is consolidation and even greater performance,” Madueke said.
Nnamani cautions against deceptive promises.
A major highlight of the event was the remarks by a former President of the Senate, Ken Nnamani, who warned Nigerians against politicians making one-term promises.
According to him, such pledges were often unrealistic and designed to mislead the electorate.
“Some people make promises they cannot keep. You must be careful. Leadership should be about integrity and proven track record, not empty assurances,” he said.
Nnamani further argued that continuity in governance, especially where performance was evident, remained the most pragmatic choice for voters.
He added that supporting Mbah’s second term would also align with the state’s political tradition, where governors since 1999 had completed two tenures.
Echoing similar sentiments, the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress, Ben Nwoye, urged the people to remain vigilant and avoid being swayed by what he described as “political gimmicks.”
Gov. Mbah describes Enugu West shuts down for Tinubu and Mbah endorsement and donates N100m
Addressing the crowd amid cheers and chants, Mbah described the rally as unprecedented in scale and significance, expressing gratitude to the people for their overwhelming support.
“This is of epic proportions. Nothing prepared me for this. You have demonstrated that you are not only united but also strategic in your thinking. You stand for equity, justice and fairness,” he said.
The governor used the occasion to outline major achievements of his administration across key sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure and economic development.
He also highlighted the impact of federal reforms under Tinubu, particularly in stabilising Nigeria’s macroeconomic environment.
“By this endorsement, you are recognising the positive outcomes of Mr President’s policies—stabilisation of foreign exchange, a downward trend in inflation, and foreign reserves now above $50bn. These have significantly increased the resources available to states and local governments,” Mbah stated.
He noted that the improved fiscal environment had enabled local governments in Enugu State to embark on numerous development projects, many of which he had been invited to commission.
Grassroots mobilisation underscores support
At the grassroots level, local government chairmen played a crucial role in mobilising supporters for the rally.

The Chairman of Ezeagu LGA, Vitalis Ndu, described the gathering as a celebration of excellence in governance, particularly in education, agriculture and infrastructure.
“We are here to celebrate a governor who has made us proud. In Ezeagu, we say there is no vacancy in Government House. We will continue to support him to sustain this trajectory,” he said.
Similarly, the Chairman of Aninri LGA, Ugochukwu Nwajoku, said the turnout from his area reflected widespread endorsement of the governor’s leadership.
“This is a clear statement that we have no other candidates for the offices of President and Governor apart from Tinubu and Mbah. The signature projects across the state speak volumes,” he said.
Nwajoku also referenced the state’s political tradition of two-term tenures, noting that Mbah deserved continuity based on performance.
Oji River shuts down for rally
In Oji River LGA, Chairman Gregory Anyaegbudike said the level of participation was unprecedented, with residents voluntarily suspending their daily activities to attend the rally.
He disclosed that markets were shut, while traders, teachers, traditional rulers, youths and women all turned out in large numbers.
“This is a demonstration of genuine love and support. From every corner of Oji River, people came out. Even those who were initially sceptical have now aligned after seeing the governor’s performance,” he said.
He expressed confidence that the momentum generated by the rally would translate into electoral victory in 2027.
Stakeholders express confidence in victory
A human rights lawyer and public affairs analyst, Chibuzor Cromwell, said the scale of support witnessed at the rally was a strong indication of Mbah’s growing political strength.
He noted that performance remained a key determinant of electoral success and expressed optimism that the governor’s track record would earn him victory.
Formal motions seal endorsements
The endorsement of Tinubu was formally moved by the member representing Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constituency, Sunday Umeha, and seconded by Toby Okechukwu of the South East Development Commission.
Similarly, the motion endorsing Mbah was moved by the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Uchenna Ugwu, and seconded by Magnus Ede, representing Aninri State Constituency.
The motions were unanimously adopted by voice vote, sealing the endorsements.
Array of dignitaries in attendance
The rally attracted a wide array of political heavyweights, traditional rulers and stakeholders from across the zone.
Among them were the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Victor Udeh; Chairman of Enugu West Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Godwin Madu; elder statesman, Igwe Lawrence Agubuzu; former Deputy Governor, Cecilia Ezeilo; former Minister of Aviation, Fidelia Njeze; Chairman of the APC in Enugu State, Martin Chukwunweike; and several other notable figures.
Also present were business leaders, party executives and community representatives, all of whom expressed support for the endorsements.
Saturday’s rally is widely seen as one of the earliest large-scale political alignments in Enugu State ahead of the 2027 general elections, signalling the start of intensified political activities and positioning within the state.
