The Enugu State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) has toured seven communities in Enugu South Local Government Area. The exercise focused on community sensitisation and participatory rural appraisals for planned intervention projects.
The agency’s General Manager, Hon. Monday Diamond Ani, led the team alongside the member representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Sam Chimaobi Atu. They engaged residents and community stakeholders to encourage participation in identifying local needs.
The tour covered Ugwuaji, Obeagu-Ugwuaji, Akwuke, Akwuke-Uwani, Ndi-Aga-Amaechi, Ndiugbo Amaechi and Amaechi Awkunanaw. According to Ani, the selected communities underwent sensitisation and participatory rural appraisal exercises.
CSDA Promotes Community Participation in Rural Projects

Speaking in Amaechi Awkunanaw on Saturday, Ani said the exercise aimed to familiarise residents with the agency’s community-driven development initiatives. He explained that the process would encourage people to identify their most pressing needs and participate in addressing them.
The CSDA team also supported the election and formal inauguration of Community Project Management Committees. These committees are expected to help communities participate in project-related activities and local development planning.
Ani said community involvement remained central to the agency’s intervention approach. He added that collaboration with political leaders could help bring government programmes closer to rural residents, vulnerable groups and underserved households.
The initiative follows other community-focused development activities in Enugu State. These include the CSDA’s earlier sensitisation and participatory rural appraisal exercise across six Enugu communities.
Rep. Atu Reaffirms Support for Rural Development

Atu said the tour reflected Governor Peter Mbah’s commitment to rural development and inclusive growth. He pledged to continue supporting the governor’s development agenda across Enugu State.
The federal lawmaker also promised to advocate for improved basic services and amenities in communities within his constituency. He said residents should benefit from development interventions that address their needs and improve their living conditions.
Atu’s participation highlighted cooperation between the CSDA and elected representatives during community engagements. The exercise provided an opportunity for local stakeholders to discuss development priorities with government officials.
The governor’s wider development agenda has also featured in reports on Peter Mbah’s achievements and plans for Enugu’s economy.
Community Leaders Praise Mbah’s Development Efforts

Community stakeholders praised the state government’s rural intervention projects during the tour. They described the initiatives as important to improving conditions across local communities.
The Deputy Chairman of Enugu South LGA, Hon. Anthony Egbo, thanked Mbah, Atu and the CSDA for their focus on rural development. He cited road projects and human empowerment initiatives already undertaken in the council area.
Egbo also called on residents to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections. He said community members would show their appreciation for the leaders through their votes.
Enugu State has continued to feature in reports on local infrastructure and community development. Related coverage includes the NACCIMA’s commendation of Mbah’s security efforts and economic ambition.
Traditional Rulers and Stakeholders Attend Tour

Several political and community figures attended the sensitisation exercise. They included the Senior Personal Adviser to the Governor on Media, Hon. Onyekwere Nwobodo, and Amaechi community leader Hon. John Egbo.
Other attendees included Hon. Sunday Ugwu, Hon. C.A. Agbo and Chief Odo Nsude. Traditional rulers from Amaechi, Ugwuaji and Akwuke communities also participated in the engagement.
Their presence brought community representatives and government officials together to discuss local development priorities. The tour also underscored the role of community participation in planning interventions.
Other reports have highlighted similar efforts to bring development programmes closer to rural residents, including the Igbo-Eze South chairman’s account of grassroots development projects.
CSDA Continues Community Engagement

The tour formed part of the agency’s efforts to sensitise communities selected for intervention projects. Through participatory rural appraisals, residents can contribute to identifying challenges and discussing local priorities.
The election and inauguration of Community Project Management Committees also provide a structure for community involvement. The agency said its approach seeks to encourage residents to take an active role in community-driven development.
The engagement in Enugu South brought together the CSDA, a federal lawmaker, local government representatives, traditional rulers and other stakeholders. Their discussions focused on strengthening cooperation around rural development and basic services.
