Happy Eid-el-Fitr: Gov Mbah
The Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has wished Muslims in the state and across Nigeria a happy Eid-el-Fitr, urging them to sustain the virtues of unity, peace, and sacrifice cultivated during the holy month of Ramadan.
Mbah made the call in a goodwill message to the Muslim Ummah on Thursday, as they marked the end of the Ramadan fast.
In the message personally signed by him, Mbah felicitated the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the spiritual exercise, describing Ramadan as a period marked by deep reflection, discipline, and sacrifice.
“I extend my warmest greetings to the Muslim Ummah in Enugu State in particular and Nigerians in general as they celebrate the joyous occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the successful completion of the Holy Month of Ramadan,” he said.
He noted that the lessons learned during Ramadan go beyond personal devotion and should translate into actions that promote national unity and peaceful coexistence.
According to him, the sacred period symbolizes a form of rebirth that the nation desperately needs, especially in the face of its socio-economic and security challenges.
Mbah Urges Unity, Sacrifice and Compassion
“The sacred period of Ramadan, defined by sacrifice, discipline, and deep spiritual reflection, typifies the rebirth that we fervently pray for and look forward to as a nation,” Mbah stated.
The governor further urged Nigerians to embrace the spirit of brotherhood and compassion that defined the fasting period, stressing that such values are critical to building a more united and progressive country.
“As we mark this special day, may the enduring lessons of brotherhood, compassion, and the shared humanity that prevailed throughout Ramadan usher in a new season of unity and progress in our country,” he added.
Mbah also called on citizens to rise above divisions and work collectively towards national development, noting that peace and cooperation remain key to achieving sustainable growth.
“May these virtues inspire us to rise above every challenge and strengthen our bonds to work together towards a more peaceful, just, and prosperous Nigeria,” he said.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to inclusivity, the governor assured residents of Enugu State that his government would continue to promote policies that accommodate all, regardless of religious or ethnic differences.
“In Enugu State, we remain committed to building an inclusive society where every citizen can thrive and contribute meaningfully to our shared future irrespective of religious and ethnic backgrounds,” he said.
He expressed optimism that the Eid-el-Fitr celebration would bring joy and renewed hope to Nigerians, while encouraging them to remain steadfast in their pursuit of a better nation.
“I pray that this Eid-el-Fitr celebration brings joy to every home, rekindles hope in our hearts, and reinforces our common resolve to build a Nigeria of our dreams,” the governor added.
Mbah, therefore, wished Muslims and all Nigerians a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
