Prince Emmanuel Kanu, brother of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has celebrated him on his 58th birthday.
Emmanuel described his brother as an “unbreakable lion” who remains undefeated despite his continued incarceration. He shared the birthday message on his verified Facebook account on Friday.
The message came as supporters and family members continued to draw attention to Kanu’s legal situation. Kanu is currently serving a life sentence following his conviction by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Emmanuel Kanu Celebrates Brother at 58
In his birthday message, Emmanuel praised Kanu’s resilience despite his imprisonment. He also suggested that the detention had not weakened his brother’s resolve.
“Happy Birthday to an unbreakable lion, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,” Emmanuel wrote.
He further said those who believed Kanu had been defeated had misunderstood his resilience. Emmanuel used the image of a seed to describe his brother’s continued influence.
“They thought they buried you, they didn’t know you are a seed. The great masquerade,” he wrote.
The birthday message has renewed attention around Kanu’s detention and ongoing legal battle. IPOB has previously issued demands concerning the hearing of Kanu’s appeal.
Brother Says Kanu Remains Undefeated
Emmanuel also referred to the legal proceedings surrounding Kanu’s conviction. He said his brother remained undefeated despite the life sentence imposed by the court.
“They jailed you with a dead law, yet you are still undefeated, still forcing the government to face appeal,” he wrote.
