The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old woman over an alleged case of Anambra child abuse involving her seven-year-old daughter.
The suspect, identified as Ogechi Ofoma, allegedly inflicted serious injuries on the child in Ibollo community, Awada-Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.
Police said the child, identified as Oluebube, suffered the injuries after her mother allegedly accused her of taking meat from a cooking pot.
According to the police, the alleged abuse included injuries reportedly inflicted with a hot knife.
Community security personnel and concerned residents reportedly intervened after discovering the child’s condition. Their intervention led to the girl’s rescue and the subsequent arrest of her mother.
