The Enugu State Government has denied reports that commercial bus drivers and tricycle operators staged a protest over taxes and levies in the state.
The government said the incident had nothing to do with taxes or rising fuel prices. Instead, it said representatives of the transport operators visited the new terminal to request designated parking spaces for their members.
The clarification came after reports circulated about the incident in Enugu. The government described claims linking the incident to taxation as false and misleading.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Special Assistant to Governor Peter Mbah on Media, Onyekwere Nwobodo, explained the government’s position.
